HOW TO COMPOSITE YOUR NEWBORN BABY PHOTO INTO A DIGITAL BACKDROP OR BACKGROUND
TIP #1 – PLANNING AHEAD FOR NEWBORN DIGITAL BACKDROPS
Our best tip for making the perfect Newborn Composite from a Backdrop? Plan Ahead!
If you have been wanting to try to incorporate digital newborn backdrops into your baby galleries then you are in the right place!! One of the most important ways to achieve a realistic digital composite is to PLAN ahead. This is so important in order to save you time in the post editing process of your images.
USE THE SAME FLUFF IN YOUR NEWBORN PORTRAIT AS IS USED IN THE DIGITAL BACKDROP OR BACKGROUND
For this particular newborn digital backdrop I made sure to photograph baby on the same fluff that was used in this digital image. So if you know the nest has cream fluff, shoot the baby on a very light backdrop like cream or white. If you don’t have something similar in your studio now, this is simply a thick yarn I found at Michael’s Craft Stores. Just unravel it and fluff the strands out a bit in order to make the yarn look more full in the images. This particular yarn is only 20% wool but you could certainly use any cream wool roving or any light curly layer you may have already. This will make your life much easier when you come to doing the digital newborn composite. Similar textures produce the best results when creating your final image
MAKE SURE THE FLUFF EXTENDS WELL PAST ALL PARTS OF BABY’S BODY
You want to ensure you have enough of the original layer in order to make the composite blending more realistic in your final image. I suggest fluffing the wool roving at least a few inches past baby in each direction. This will give you ample room to blend with your digital newborn backdrop or background.
